Description
The world's best-selling micellar casein
While fast-absorbing proteins are desirable just before and after exercise to "feed" and recover muscles, sometimes it's still slower. Slower release is more beneficial during the rest of the day as well as before going to bed when your body is without food for hours. Casein proteins are pH sensitive and in gel form in the acidic environment of the stomach. As a result, casein takes twice as long to break down into amino acid subcomponents as whey or other proteins do. Due to its temporal release properties, casein has been described as an anti-catabolic or muscle-protecting protein.
Using only premium casein as a protein source in its 100% Gold Standard Casein, Optimum Nutrition has created a standard-setting formula for all slow-release proteins.
More than the basics:
- 100% micellar casein
- 24 g protein per dose
- 10g BCCA and glutamine per dose
- AMINOGEN formula
- Ideal for between meals and at bedtime
- ON raw material quality
What is micellar casein?
Micellar casein is the slowest form of casein. It is separated from the milk through an ultrafiltration process. One of the interesting characteristics of casein is its ability to turn into a gel during digestion and therefore can ensure a constant supply of amino acids for several hours.
How to use:
Put 250-300 ml of water or milk in the shaker, then one scoop of Gold Standard 100% Casein (approx. 32g) and then shake for about 30 seconds. Gold Standard 100% Casein is used just before bedtime or between meals when slower protein release is desirable.
